COP 30: on November 11, 2025, Sharif Jamil, Coordinator of Waterkeepers Bangladesh addressed the water management issues of Bangladesh in a side-event. He said, Dhaka, the capital of a densely populated delta country, surrounded by four rivers that were all interconnected through more than forty canals. Human settlement here started about four hundred years ago based on these riverine ecosystems. But unplanned and unregulated urbanization destroyed the rivers, floodplains, canals and wetlands leaving Dhaka a waterlogged city during monsoon. The event titled” City-basin dialogue: urban resilience through improved monitoring and IWRM planning”. The event was organized by INBO at the Water for Climate Pavilion.
