On November 20, a community discussion titled "Challenges and Solutions for the Livelihoods of Fisherfolk and Farmers" was held at the Latakata Fishermen's Cooperative Society in Barguna Sadar Upazila. Organized by Dhoriti Rokkhay Amra (DHORA) and Waterkeepers Bangladesh, the event brought together over 250 fisherfolk and farmers to discuss critical issues affecting their lives.

The participants highlighted the environmental impact of the thermal power plant on the Payra River, pointing to declining fish populations, reduced crop yields, and diminished production of coconuts and betel nuts. They urged authorities to take action to address these challenges and safeguard their livelihoods.

The Chief Guest at the event was Mr. Md. Mohsin, District Fisheries Officer of Barguna. Special guests included Mr. Md. Ikbal Faruk, Manager of Research and Implementation at Waterkeepers Bangladesh, Mr. Mushfiq Arif, Member Secretary of DHORA's Barguna barguna branch, and Mr. Mizanur Rahman, President of the Latakata Fishermen's Cooperative Society. The meeting was presided over by Mr. Md. Abdul Aziz, a senior member of the cooperative society.
The discussion served as a platform to amplify the voices of those most affected by environmental and livelihood challenges. Together, the participants pledged to work collectively towards sustainable solutions.
