On Day 6 of the program of Surma River Waterkeeper to observe the ‘’International Day of Action for Rivers’’, the organizers arranged a bicycle rally on the bank of the River Surma on March 17, 2016 in Sylhet. The rally was jointly organized by Bangladesh Poribesh Andolon (BAPA), Sylhet chapter, Surma River Waterkeeper and Critical Mass, a cyclist organization. The rally starts from the Clock tower of Ali Amzad near keane Bridge at 4 pm in the afternoon and ends at Central Shaheed Minar. ‘’Stop polluting the Surma’’ with the slogan, the rally touches ten important points of Sylhet city, such as: Kazirbazar Bridge, Khojarkhola, Boroikandi, Muktijodhdha Chattar, Humayn Rashid Chattar, Mendibagh, Masimpur Road, Chorarpar, Kalirghat etc. More than one hundred cyclists participated in the rally. The participants distributed awareness leaflets from the rally. Surma River Waterkeeper and Bangladesh Poribesh Andolon (BAPA), Sylhet chapter have initiated a weeklong program to observe the ‘’International Day of Action for Rivers’’.
