A tree plantation program organized by Dhoritri Rokhkhay Amra (DHORA), Blue Planet Initiative (BPI), Waterkeepers Bangladesh, and Mission Green Bangladesh took place at Pekua Police Station on the fourth day of this month-long initiative. The chief guest of the event was Officer-in-Charge OC Mohammad Elias of Pekua Police Station. Other distinguished guests included OC Investigation Sudipta Shekhar Bhattacharya, Ujantia Union Parishad Chairman Tofazzal Karim Chowdhury, Social Worker Shawkat Islam Chowdhury Bahadur, Environmental Activist Delwar Hossain, and Women Leader Nurun Nahar Noori.
In his speech, OC Mohammad Elias emphasized that trees not only provide oxygen but also protect the earth from disasters through greening. He highlighted that, in addition to their role in eradicating crime, the police engage in such activities to inspire the public to plant trees and contribute to building a green Bangladesh. He urged everyone to participate in tree planting to combat the effects of climate change and support urbanization efforts through increased greening.
Members of Coastal Free Rover Scouts and students from various educational institutions also attended the event. Following the speeches, the guests participated in fruit and forest tree planting activities on the premises of Pekua Police Station.
