With the theme “Our Rivers, Our Existence,” environmental and climate-focused civil society organization Dhoritri Rokhhay Amra (DHORA), Waterkeepers Bangladesh, and various local partner organizations jointly celebrated World Rivers Day 2025 through diverse activities across 21 locations in Bangladesh.
Participants raised strong demands for the removal of illegal encroachments from rivers and canals, organizing human chains, submissions of memorandum, rallies, and assemblies in different parts of the country. Calls were made for swift and effective actions to protect river ecosystems.
Programs were held in Barguna Sadar, Taltoli, and Patharghata upazilas of Barguna district; Kalapara upazila of Patuakhali; Mongla upazila of Bagerhat; Chakaria and Kutubdia upazilas of Cox’s Bazar; Chunati union under Lohagara upazila of Chattogram; Paikgacha upazila of Khulna; and in the districts of Sylhet, Habiganj, Moulvibazar, Jamalpur, Sherpur, Pabna, Barishal, Bogura, Rajshahi, Gazipur, Pirojpur, Satkhira, and Dhaka.
