On Friday (November 22) afternoon, a public dialogue on the theme “Climate Justice and Protection of the Coastal Ecosystem, Livelihoods, and Flora and Fauna of the Sundarbans” was organized by ধরিত্রী রক্ষায় আমরা-ধরা Dhoritri Rokhhay Amra-DHORA, Sundarbans Rakhya Amra, Waterkeepers Bangladesh, and the Pashur River Waterkeeper in South Kainmari, Mongla.
The coordinator of Sundarbans Rakhya Amra and Pashur River Waterkeeper, Mohammad Noor Alam Sheikh, chaired the event. The chief guest of the dialogue was the Upazila Executive Officer, Afia Sharmin. Special guests included Ibnul Said Rana, the organizing coordinator of DHORA, SM Masud Rana, the Upazila Social Services Officer, Mamun Kabir, the publicity coordinator of DHORA, Atikul Islam, the Upazila JICA Officer, and Azad Kabir, the in-charge of the Sundarbans Karamjal Wildlife Breeding Center. The welcome speech was delivered by Komola Sarkar, the organizer of Waterkeepers Bangladesh, a prominent women leader. Other speakers included coastal women leaders Chandrika Mondal, Swapna Biswas, fisherman association leader Bidyut Mondal, Konika Mondal, Trishna Sarkar, and environmental activist Hasib Sardar.
