Disastrous condition of Old Buriganga due to reckless encroachment and its Future: A discussion meeting by Buriganga Riverkeeer and Bangladesh Poribesh Andolon (BAPA)
A discussion meeting on ‘’Disastrous condition of Old Buriganga due to reckless encroachment and its Future’’ was held on April 9, 2016, organized jointly by Buriganga Riverkeeper and Bangladesh Poribesh Andolon (BAPA) at National Press Club Conference Hall at 10:30 am. Shajahan Khan M.P., the Honorable Minister, the Ministry of Shipping, the People’s Republic of Bangladesh was present as the Chief Guest on the occasion. Sharif Jamil, the Buriganga Riverkeeper and Joint Secretary, BAPA was the keynote speaker.
The discussion meeting was the continuation of the Buriganga Riverkeeper program activities to address the encroachment problem of the River Buriganga. The organizers demanded immediate action from the responsible authorities to save river from encroachments. The organizers had arranged this meeting to understand the project plan and share to their ideas so that the authority can facilitate a sustainable and affective project that will ultimately save River Buriganga.
