On 4th May 2023, Thursday at 11 AM in front of the Bangladesh National Museum, Waterkeepers Bangladesh jointly organized a human chain and mime show in association with Equity BD, Youth Net for Climate Justice, Bangladesh Environmental Lawyers Association (BELA), BROTEE, Samaj Kallyan Sangstha, Coastal Livelihood and Environmental Action Network (CLEAN), Friends of the Earth Asia Pacific, Global Law Thinkers Society (GLTS) and Bangladesh Farmers Federation together with other Asian countries on the occasion of the launching of the ‘Don’t Gas Asia’ campaign. Along with Dhaka, the journey of the ‘Don’t Gas Asia’ campaign also started in Tokyo, Manila, Incheon, Mandaluyong, Jakarta, Chiang Mai, Hanoi, Delhi, Kolkata, Kathmandu, Lahore, and Karachi to stop the expansion of fossil fuels. The Asia-wide gathering was organized by Asia Energy Network and Asian People’s Movement for Debt and Development (APMDD). In the launching ceremony, Dhaka University Mime Action (DUMA) members performed public awareness mimes on air pollution, water pollution, deforestation, and climate refugees.
