Rivers and watersheds of Bangladesh need to be protected with continuous development work. In order to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal 2030, it is greatly important to keep an eye on environmental protection for the government of Bangladesh. Upon the part of Delta planning, the government needs to have initiatives to protect the Sundarbans as well as the riverine and other living beings in the region only with development activities. These were discussed by the speakers at a two-day workshop on “Sustainable Development in Coastal Region” on 12 November 2020 morning which took place at Hotel Graver Inn, organized by Bangladesh Poribesh Andolon (BAPA), Pashur River Waterkeeper, and Waterkeepers Bangladesh.
On Monday the workshop’s inaugural ceremony was presided by Sharif Jamil, General Secretary of Bangladesh Poribesh Andolon (BAPA) and coordinator of Waterkeepers Bangladesh. Upazila mayor Abdul Barek Mollah was the chief guest of the inaugural ceremony. Pashur River Waterkeeper Bangladesh, Bangladesh Poribesh Andolon (BAPA) Bagerhat Zilla committee convener Md. Nurul Alam Sheikh was the special guest. An introductory presentation on community participation in sustainable development was presented by the Manager (Research & Implementation), Waterkeepers Bangladesh- S. M. Arafat Jubair. The workshop and training moderator was Bangladesh Poribesh Andolon (BAPA) Kalapara branch committee convener Majbauddin Mannu.
