The community meeting to form the coalition was held on 21 August 2021. The meeting was held physically at Bosila, Mohammadpur on the bank of river Buriganga. In the meeting, CBOs of the river Buriganga formed a coalition of the CBOs to save their river. A total of 28 members from 24 community-based organizations will be working in the coalition and four social workers from the riverbank areas will also be a part of this coalition. Four women-headed organizations will also be part of this coalition.
WKB consortium lead Sharif Jamil presided over and gave the opening remarks in the meeting. Ms. Camalia from Nagorik Odhikar Sangrakkhan Forum, Nazim Uddin from Puran Dhaka Nagorik Uddyog, Md. Amir Hossain from Paribesh Andolon Mancha, Md. Selim from Shishuder Mukto Bayu Sebon Sangstha, Javed Jahan from Adi Dhakabasi Forum, Aminul Islam from Bangladesh Cycle Lane Bastobayon Parishad, Umme Salma from Nirapad Chikitsa Chai, Social worker Hazi Miya Hossain from Bosila, Social Worker Laat Jamal Hossain Jamil from Mohammadpur were also present in the meeting and took part to the discussion. A vote of thanks was given by Mohammad Azaz, Chairman RDRC. Local 34 CBOs in the bank areas of the river Buriganga provided support to organize the event.
