Celebrating World Environment Day 2024 by Dhoritri Rakhhay Amra (DHORA), Waterkeepers Bangladesh, Surma River Waterkeeper, Khoai River Waterkeeper, Planeteers Club, and Local Organizations
Dhoritri Rakhhay Amra (DHORA), a civil organization focused on environment and climate change, alongside Waterkeepers Bangladesh, Surma River Waterkeeper, Khoai River Waterkeeper, Planeteers Club, and various local organizations, jointly organized an initiative on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, across 12 upazilas in 8 districts of the Coastal, Haor, and Barendra regions of the country to celebrate World Environment Day 2024.
This celebration included activities in Pekua, Maheshkhali, Kutubdia, Chakria, and Cox’s Bazar Sadar Upazilas of Cox’s Bazar district; Patharghata Upazila of Barguna; Kalapara Upazila of Patuakhali; Mongla Upazila of Bagerhat; Sylhet metropolis; Habiganj Sadar; Chuadanga Sadar; and Jamalpur headquarters.

– A round table discussion in Sylhet.
– A human chain for the protection of the Andharmanik River in Kalapara.
– A rally and discussion meeting in Patharghata, demanding improvements in the drainage system and removal of plastic waste.
– A discussion meeting and rally in Mongla for the protection of the Sundarbans.
– A gathering of children and teenagers in Habiganj.
– A discussion meeting and environmental award ceremony in Jamalpur.
– A discussion meeting for the protection of the Mathabhanga River in Chuadanga.
– A human chain and discussion meeting in Pekua, demanding an end to the occupation and pollution of the Kahalkhali Canal.
– Tree plantation and a discussion meeting in Kutubdia.
– A human chain against environmental destroyers in Maheshkhali.
