Community Meeting on Barogram-Balu River Coalition
WKB consortium organized fifth community meeting on 2 March 2022 to increase awareness and organize community members to advocate to reduce water, air, and noise pollution in Dhaka city. This was a two-hour-long event (4:00 pm – 6:00 pm) organized at City Daffodil School, Trimohoni, Khilgaon by the riverside of Balu.
The community meeting was organized jointly by Barogram Unnayan Sangshta and Waterkeepers Bangladesh Consortium. Presided over by the president of Barogram Unnayan Sangshta, Mr Suruj Mia, the meeting was addressed by Sharif Jamil, Coordinator of Waterkeepers Bangladesh as the main speaker. Moderated by Amzad Hossain of Barogram Unnayan Sangshta, Md. Akbar Hossain, Councilor Ward no 75 was the chief guest. The meeting was addressed by among others Saiful Islam, Kamal Hossain, Hafizul Islam Emon, Nasir Hossain, Ariful Islam, Iqbal Hossain, Maijuddin, Ms. Pairun Akter Ruma, Lokman Hossain and Ahad Khan. Md. Kamruzzaman, Project Coordinator, Waterkeepers Bangladesh provided the welcome speech. At the end of the meeting, the Barogram-Balu River Coalition was declared.
