A meeting was jointly arranged by Pashur River Waterkeeper, BAPA and Waterkeepers Bangladesh on 27th January, 2017, morning, at Kolabari Government Primary School. Discussion was held demanding immediate steps to protect the indigenous group at Kolabari, Mongla by the bank of River Pashur from tremendous riverbank erosion of the River Pashur and unplanned industrialization that impacts the those villagers livelihoods of fishing on the river Pashur.
The meeting was chaired by local senior citizen Jitendra Nath Rai and the Chief Guest was Pashur River Waterkeeper Md. Noor Alam Shekh. In addition BAPA representative Tanjim Hossain Mukul spoke among others for the cause. Local representatives Ashiet Rai, Promoth Rai and Chhabi Rai also gave their speech. The speakers requested the government to take necessary steps in order to save the Pashur river from erosion. The speakers wanted demurrage from the Government of the Bangladesh for the suffering locals.
