The river Pashur is the lifeline of the Sundarbans and meets the Shibsa River within the Sundarbans. The life of the general population living at Joymoni , Mongla is currently jeopardized because of unplanned industrialization, illegal land grabbing, unplanned and unregulated fishing.
A meeting was jointly arranged by Pashur River Waterkeeper, BAPA and Waterkeepers Bangladesh on 26th January, 2017, evening, at Mukto Store Chattar. Discussion was held on Pashur River erosion and protection of the indigenous group at Joymoni Poshchim Para.
The meeting was chaired by Abdul Manna Fakir, Chief guest was Pashur River Waterkeeper, Md. Noor Alam Shekh. In addition, BAPA representative Tanjim Hossain Mukul, Md. Sayedur Rahman and Wasim Rajib spoke as the local representative. The speakers requested the government to take necessary steps in order to save the Pashur river from erosion. It was decided that a memorandum would be sent to the Prime Minister through the Ministry of Water Resources.
