Public meeting in demand of protection from environmental and humanitarian disaster

A public meeting jointly organized by Bangladesh Poribesh Andolon (BAPA), Bangladesh   Environmental Lawyers Association (BELA) and Waterkeepers Bangladesh was held at Shahpur Bazar of Madhabpur upazila, Habiganj district on February 27, 2016 in demand of protection from environmental and humanitarian disaster due to industrial pollution in Habiganj. The meeting was chaired by the Vice President of BAPA, Advocate Sultana Kamal.

From the meeting three point demands were declared. These are –

1. No permission will be granted to build any industrial establishment destroying agriculture land
2. No industrial factories will go for production till they ensure ETP
3. To ensure regular monitoring system a monitoring cell will be formed representation from Govt. officials,  local  representatives  and environmentalists to monitor and collect information of these industrial factories
