On Day 5 of the program of Surma River Waterkeeper to observe the ‘’International Day of Action for Rivers’’, the organizers have set up awareness billboards on the bank of the River Surma on March 16, 2016 in Sylhet. Surma River Waterkeeper and Bangladesh Poribesh Andolon (BAPA), Sylhet chapter have initiated a weeklong program to observe the ‘’International Day of Action for Rivers’’. The aim of this initiative is to create awareness among people to protect river from any kind of pollutions and engaging them to the river protection movement. The organizers have set up twenty billboards in the key points of the river bank, like- Kazirbazar Bridge, Polytechnic Road, Chadnighat Road, Kin Bridge, Shahjalal Bridge, Chorarpar and Kalighat. The billboards were set with some awareness messages, such as:‘Stop polluting river’;‘Do not release waste into the river’; ‘Dump your waste in the bin’; ‘Please step forward to save river’ etc.
